Bio: Tenor José Mongelós has established himself as one the premiere singers in his native homeland of Paraguay, serving as an official soloist for the Paraguayan government with the Orquesta Sinfónica del Congreso since 2013. He brings a strong passion and sense of musicality to his repertoire, displaying both sensitivity and strength.
José has performed numerous concerts throughout Paraguay, including gala concerts with the Orquesta Sinfónica del Congreso, the Bach Easter Oratorio and Johannes Passion with the Bach Collegium Asunción, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Orquesta Sinfónica de la Ciudad de Asunción, and as a soloist alongside Sumi Jo with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional. Additional performances include Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) for Miami Music Festival, Spoletta (Tosca) with Opera Obliqua’s 2014 tour of Switzerland, Dénarius in La Forêt Mouillee (Albinarrate) and Fernando in Tucuman (Boero) with IUNA, Gastone (La Traviata) for the Festival Stand’été, and as a soloist in Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri with Musiques des Lumières in Switzerland.
As a young artist, José has appeared with the Miami Music Festival and the OperaWorks Advanced Artist program. He received his formal training from the Conservatorio de Música Miguel Coronel in Paraguay and IUNA Universidad Nacional de las Artes in Argentina.
