Laura Åkerlund

Laura Åkerlund is a Finnish opera stage director and pianist. She started her piano lessons at the age of six, and continued her studies at the Helsinki Conservatory. She later graduated from the Helsinki University with a Master’s degree in Musicology. She also studied Opera Stage Directing at Sibelius-Academy, Theater Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin, Management and International Business at Aalto University. She is multilingual (Finnish, English, Swedish, German, French). Since 2007 she has assisted several opera stage directors (Peter Sellars, Kirill Serebrennikov, Calixto Bieito, David Bösch, Tilman Hecker, Erik Söderblom, Johanna Freundlich, Vilppu Kiljunen) in Finland, Sweden, Germany, England notably at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Komische Oper Berlin, Oper Stuttgart, Bayerisch
