Bio: Brazilian bass-baritone Pedro Ometto recently graduated from Opera School at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) under the tutelage of Julian Tovey. He has studied with Benito Maresca and Isabel Maresca in Brazil and with Roberto Servile in Italy. He has performed at most of the important Brazilian venues, including the Theatro Municipal in São Paulo, Teatro Castro Alves in Salvador, Palácio das Artes in Belo Horizonte and the Sala São Paulo. In the UK he has collaborated with RCS Opera, Scottish Opera, Clonter Opera, British Youth Opera and Royal Northern Sinfonia. Operatic roles include: Theseus (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Trulove (The Rake’s Progress), Frank Maurrant (Street Scene), The Loudspeaker (The Emperor of Atlantis), Phoebus (The Day After), Angelotti (Tosca), Petrus (Der Mond by Carl Orff), Mamma Agata (Viva la Mamma by Donizetti), Dulcamara (L’Elisir d’Amore), Don Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaroand Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Sarastro and Sprecher (Die Zauberflöte), Blansac (La Scala di Setaby Rossini), Plutone (Il Ballo delle Ingrate by Monteverdi) and Don Fernando (Fidelio). Operetta and musical theatre roles include Jupiter (Orphee aux Enfers), Major Blanco (Villa Lobo’s Magdalena), Lord Chancellor (Iolanthe by Gilbert and Sullivan), Corcoran (HMS Pinafore), John Wellington Wells (The Sorcerer), Don Alhambra (The Gondoliers), Tiger Brown (The Threepenny Opera), Perón (Evita) and The Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince (Into the Woods). Concert work includes: Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Bach’s Christmas Oratorioand Hunting Cantata, Mozart’s Requiem, Cavalieri’s Rappresentatione di Anima et di Corpo.
