Sébastien Rouland

Although Sébastien Rouland studied violoncello, it became very early obvious that he was to become a conductor. His mentors were Pierre Cao and Marc Minkowski. Time and again he has proved to be an enthusiastic and genuine champion of the French music, from Rameau to Offenbach, Massenet and Poulenc. As for every great conductor, his repertoire is however not exclusive at all, including Haendel, Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini, Wagner, Britten, Glass as well as many other composers. From 2002 to 2004 he was first guest conductor at the Lucerne Opera where he soon proved with brio his musical versatility, conducting Lully's Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, Gluck's Armide,Mozart's Lucio Silla and Die Zauberflöte, Rossini's Mosé in Egitto, Wagner's Der fliegende Holländer and Bizet's Carmen.
