MOBY DICK TRAILER

Gorges Ocloo had wanted to make a show based on the literary classic Moby Dick by Herman Melville . When he saw a picture in the newspaper a few years ago of an 11-year-old girl in her Sunday dress, floating lifelessly in the azure waters of the Mediterranean, the puzzle started to come together. Did this girl, one of the first victims of a sunken refugee boat, know in advance how dangerous her journey would be? And would the ever-silent Queequeg, portrayed as exotic 'barbarian', have boarded the Pequod had he known in advance that Captain Ahab was out on a reckless revenge mission?

Ocloo approached the Nigerian writer Ben Okri for the adaptation of Moby Dick . He reworked Melville's text into a magical-realistic story about the gap between power and impotence, high and low, rich and poor. A story that takes place after the boat has sunk. In a poetic and magical world, inspired by voodoo and animistic tales. A place where anything is possible. Where Ahab and Queequeg exchange ideas for the first time, apart from status and ego, apart from the material, pure and naked.
