Die Sopranistin Marlis Petersen erhielt ihre vierte (!) Auszeichnung zur »Sängerin des Jahres« 2020 unter anderem für die Interpretation der Salome am Theater an der Wien. In eben dieser Rolle begeistert sie uns im 10. Sinfoniekonzert. Das Orchester bildet mit Salomes ›Tanz der sieben Schleier‹ den Auftakt zu ihrem Schlussrausch in der gleichnamigen Oper von Richard Strauss. In Alban Bergs ›Sieben frühe Lieder‹ wechselt Marlis Petersen zwischen romantischen und atonalen Klängen. Dabei interpretiert sie sieben Gedichte von Theodor Storm bis Rainer Maria Rilke.
Alle Werke dieses Programms stammen aus dem ersten Jahrzehnt des 20. Jahrhunderts, so auch Florent Schmitts Sinfonische Dichtung ›La Tragédie de Salomé‹. Die Ähnlichkeit zu Igor Strawinskys ›Le Sacre du Printemps‹, im Abstand von nur zwei Wochen ebenso 1913 im Pariser Champs-Élysées Theater uraufgeführt, ist nicht zu verkennen – Strawinsky war jedenfalls begeistert von dem Werk, wie er in einem Brief an Florent Schmitt vom 23. Februar 1912 mitteilte: »God, how fine it is! It is one of the greatest masterpieces of modern music«.

The soprano Marlis Petersen received her fourth (!) award for "Singer of the Year" 2020, among other things for the interpretation of Salome at the Theater an der Wien. It is precisely in this role that she inspires us in the 10th symphony concert. With Salome's ›Dance of the Seven Veils‹, the orchestra forms the prelude to their final intoxication in the opera of the same name by Richard Strauss. In Alban Berg's ›Sieben Frühe Lieder‹, Marlis Petersen alternates between romantic and atonal sounds. She interprets seven poems from Theodor Storm to Rainer Maria Rilke.
All the works in this program date from the first decade of the 20th century, including Florent Schmitt's symphonic poem ›La Tragédie de Salomé‹. The resemblance to Igor Stravinsky's ›Le Sacre du Printemps‹, also premiered just two weeks apart in 1913 in the Parisian Champs-Élysées Theater, is unmistakable - Stravinsky was enthusiastic about the work, as he wrote in a letter to Florent Schmitt dated February 23, 1912: »God, how fine it is! It is one of the greatest masterpieces of modern music«.
