The protagonists of the story are two determined, exciting, edgy women. Roxie Hart, a young bar dancer dreaming of a bright career, shoots her lover, who didn't keep his promise, didn't manage his ambitious career enough. Roxie ends up in jail, where she meets Velma Kelly, Chicago's brightest star. Roxie's dream of being a front page story seems to be coming true in prison. It also needs this and that, like the well-connected Mama Morton (Muter) and a corrupt star lawyer, Billy Flynn. The plot, rich in twists and turns, is reminiscent of America in the 1920s. The show, which presents a tobacco-smoky, powder-scented world, transports its audience into the limelight of the world of desires and dreams with familiar music, songs, wonderful costumes, and spectacular choreography, while also showing the dark side of the cruel, manipulative power of the media.

A történet főhőse két elszánt, izgalmas, vagány nő. A fiatal, ám fényes karriert álmodó bártáncos, Roxie Hart lelövi szeretőjét, aki nem tartotta ígéretét, nem menedzselte eléggé nagyravágyó karrierjét. Roxie börtönbe kerül, ahol megismerkedik Velma Kellyvel, Chicago legragyogóbb csillagával. Roxie álma, hogy címlapsztori legyen, a börtönben megvalósulni látszik.
