Das «Rosamunde»-Quartett fand als einziges zu Schuberts Lebzeiten den Weg in den großen Konzertsaal, den das noch bekanntere «Forellenquintett» gar nicht nötig hatte, um sich mit seinen Variationen über das Lied Die Forelle einen Platz im Herzen jedes Musikliebhabers zu sichern.
