Wise people, people of mystery” - this is how Giuseppe Verdi spoke about the civilization of Ancient Egypt. Immersed in this wonderful world, he created one of the most grandiose operas in musical culture. Aida by Verdi connects the ends of the abyss between modernity and history and provides an opportunity to reflect on these topics. But there is an abyss that cannot be bridged - between the pure fire of love, fragile tenderness and the monumental, cold power of oppression ...
The directors highly appreciate the dramaturgy of the opera and its plot, which tied the fate of the daughter of the king of Egypt Amneris, the Ethiopian captive-slave Aida and Radames, the head of the palace guards, into a tight knot of love and jealousy. Creating a “truthful and strong drama” based on the ancient Egyptian legend, Verdi knew for sure that it would never get old, because the brilliance, the greatness of kings and pharaohs, jade and gold, the grandeur of temples and pyramids are just signs of historical time. And they are not important. And the most important thing for a person in any era is freedom of choice, love, betrayal, life itself and death.
The opera "Aida" conquers with beautiful melodies. Verdi, like no one, felt the nature of the singing voice. His music gives soloists a brilliant opportunity to demonstrate all their abilities, and listeners to get the most out of it.
