ABOUT THE PLAY
In 1868, the Egyptian government approached Verdi with a proposal to write an opera for the opening of a new theater in Cairo, but the composer refused. Two years later, the librettist du Locle sent Verdi the libretto of Aida, created by the French Egyptologist O. Mariette on the basis of an ancient legend. Verdi liked the plot, and he agreed to write music. The libretto is based on one of the episodes of the long struggle between Ancient Egypt and Ethiopia.

Short description

Unfortunate are those lovers who come from warring states. These were Radames and Aida. Aida's lover goes to war against her father. Mental anguish, love and Aida's sense of duty will be a fatal mistake. It's too late to repent. Events take an irreparable tragic turn...
