Help us celebrate three iconic American composers in this concert featuring music by Bernstein, Copland, and Hanson. Bursting with American folk music influences, Appalachian Spring was inspired by the music and culture of the American South. You’ll follow a young bride and groom on their wedding day and hear familiar tunes like “Simple Gifts.” Also on the program, hear music by pianist, composer, and long-time New York Philharmonic Music Director, Leonard Bernstein, and Howard Hanson—a major force in the development of American music through his work as director of the Eastman School of Music.
