O Γκέρσουιν έγραψε το γνωστό συμφωνικό του ποίημα Ένας Αμερικανός στο Παρίσι το 1927, όταν επισκέφτηκε την Πόλη του Φωτός για να μελετήσει κοντά στους μεγάλους Γάλλους συνθέτες της εποχής. Σκοπός του ήταν να μεταδώσει με τη μουσική του τις εντυπώσεις ενός Αμερικανού τουρίστα που περιδιαβαίνει στην πόλη και ζει την περίφημη παριζιάνικη ατμόσφαιρα.
Στο πρώτο μέρος ο Αντώνης Σουσάμογλου ερμηνεύει το Κοντσέρτο για βιολί του Χρίστου Παπαγεωργίου, ένα απαιτητικό έργο που αποπνέει ελληνική μουσική παράδοση.

Gershwin wrote his famous symphonic poem An American in Paris in 1927, when he visited the City of Light to study next to the great French composers of the time. Through his music, he aimed to convey the impressions of an American tourist who wanders around the city and experiences the famous Parisian atmosphere.
In the first part, Antonis Sousamoglou performs the Violin Concerto by Christos Papageorgiou, a demanding work that exudes Greek musical tradition.
