The story takes place in Nice, the happiness of the couple returning from their honeymoon is disturbed by the husband's turbulent past. Henri gave a Brazilian dancer a bill of exchange redeemable at any time for a night together. The artist hopes to collect the debt at a large-scale ball at the Savoy Hotel, where the suspicious wife stumbles into. The Hungarian premiere of the operetta in 1932 was preceded by a wave of successful European premieres.

A történet Nizzában játszódik, a nászútról hazaérkező szerelmespár boldogságát a férj viharos múltja zavarja meg. Henri egy éjszakai együttlétről szóló, bármikor beváltható váltót adott egy brazil táncosnőnek. A tartozást a művésznő a Savoy Hotel nagyszabású bálján óhajtja behajtani, ahova a gyanakvó feleség is betoppan.
