W dobie przeobrażeń społeczności europejskiej młodzi kompozytorzy w poszukiwaniu tożsamości wspólnej wszystkim ludziom żyjącym na naszym kontynencie sięgają do baśni, starych sag i legend. Tematyka tych na poły nierealnych opowieści została zaczerpnięta z rzeczywistości – to historie o miłości, zazdrości, pomocy, braterstwie, rywalizacji, współczuciu, przemianie i dojrzewaniu bohaterów. Baśni słuchamy jako dzieci i nie zdajemy sobie nawet sprawy, że pozostają one w nas na całe życie i kształtują nasze myślenie o świecie. To historie o podstawowych potrzebach ludzkich, poruszające istotne zagadnienia moralności. Opowieści, w których nasi przodkowie próbowali przekazać zasady etyczne, wizję relacji międzyludzkich.

Baśnie Hansa Christiana Andersena, opowiadania Astrid Lindgren, historia Peera Gynta czy legendy ze zbioru Kalevala stały się popularne w całej Europie, kształtowały tożsamość kulturową naszego kontynentu. Młodzi kompozytorzy z Polski, Szwecji, Belgii i Holandii zainspirowani baśniami stworzyli utwory na kwartet wokalny i narratora, które wykonają członkowie Swedish Radio Choir oraz fińska aktorka Stina Ekblad. Koncert w ramach projektu Music Masters on Air, promującego twórczość muzyczną młodego pokolenia, jest spojrzeniem w stronę Północy w czasie edycji festiwalu zatytułowanej Południe – dobrze dopełnia tegoroczny program.

In the era of transformation of the European community, young composers, in search of an identity common to all people living on our continent, turn to fairy tales, old sagas and legends. The themes of these semi-unreal stories have been drawn from reality - they are stories about love, jealousy, help, brotherhood, rivalry, compassion, transformation and maturation of the characters. We listen to fairy tales as children and we don't even realize that they stay with us for life and shape our thinking about the world. These are stories about basic human needs, touching upon important issues of morality. Stories in which our ancestors tried to convey ethical principles, a vision of human relations.

Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales, Astrid Lindgren's stories, the story of Peer Gynt or the legends from the Kalevala collection have become popular throughout Europe, shaping the cultural identity of our continent. Young composers from Poland, Sweden, Belgium and the Netherlands, inspired by fairy tales, created pieces for a vocal quartet and narrator, which will be performed by members of the Swedish Radio Choir and the Finnish actress Stina Ekblad. The concert as part of the Music Masters on Air project, promoting the musical creativity of the young generation, is a look towards the North during the edition of the festival entitled South – it complements this year's program well.
