L’anomenat període “heroic” de la producció musical de Ludwig van Beethoven reflecteix a la Simfonia n. 7 la seva forma més acabada, i el camí audaç que havia pres anys enrere cristal·litza en un enèrgic cant de gran vigor rítmic. Una partitura que va treballar durant l’hivern del 1811 al 1812, i en què Richard Wagner va veure una “apoteosi de la dansa”. A la Setena s’hi ha volgut sentir una síntesi de tot el que Nietzsche identificava en la música de Beethoven: “un cant de cigne del segle XVIII, el segle de l’exaltació, dels ideals trencats i de la benastrugança fugitiva”.

Enmig dels castells a l’aire que hi ha al panorama contemporani, destaca la sòlida trajectòria de Jörg Widmann, músic que es caracteritza tant pel seu caràcter multifacètic com pel seu coneixement de la tradició. La literatura musicològica que la seva obra ja ha generat no és un fet casual.A Con brio, una de les seves obres més celebrades, ens trobem amb una obertura en diàleg hermenèutic amb la Setena de Beethoven, fruit d’un encàrrec de la Simfònica de la Ràdio de Baviera. El Concert per a violí, dotat d’una força lírica que ha estat comparada amb la de l’obra homònima d’Alban Berg, és una referència indiscutible de la creació musical actual.

In Con brio , one of his most celebrated works, we find an opening in hermeneutic dialogue with Beethoven's Seventh , the result of a commission from the Symphony of Bavarian Radio. The Violin Concerto, endowed with a lyrical force that has been compared to that of Alban Berg's work of the same name, is an indisputable reference in today's musical creation.
