Considerato dalla critica internazionale fra i pianisti più interessanti e completi della sua generazione, dotato di capacità espressiva e di un controllo rigoroso del suono, Benedetto Lupo torna ospite della Filarmonica Romana con un programma interamente dedicato alla musica russa. Da una parte la malinconia sognante delle Stagioni di Čajkovskij, dall’altra l’irrequietezza e la modernità dei Preludi di Skrjabin. Le prime vennero composte su commissione dell’editore della rivista musicale Nouvellist di San Pietroburgo che offriva ai suoi lettori 12 brevi pezzi per pianoforte, uno per ogni mese dell'anno 1876. Tutt’altra gestazione ebbero i 24 Preludi op. 11 di Skrjabin, una raccolta giovanile (il compositore aveva appena 16 anni quando iniziò a scrivere i brani), che pur prendendo come modello i 24 preludi op. 28 di Chopin, manifesta grande innovazione.

Considered by international critics to be one of the most interesting and complete pianists of his generation, gifted with expressive ability and rigorous sound control, Benedetto Lupo is once again a guest of the Roman Philharmonic with a program entirely dedicated to Russian music. On the one hand the dreamy melancholy of Tchaikovsky's Seasons, on the other the restlessness and modernity of Skrjabin's Preludes. The first ones were commissioned by the editor of the Nouvellist musical review of St. Petersburg who offered his readers 12 short pieces for piano, one for each month of the year 1876.
