Music comes from nature. And she is like nature: inspiration and challenge, comfort and deception, beauty and magic. For Wagner's Siegfried, the forest and birdsong set the course for his path. Brahms' Violin Concerto breathes the alpine air in which it was written as majestically as it is fragile. In the fairy tale of the wooden prince, the forest becomes a creature of change that plays its bizarre game with the lovers: it tests and mocks, comforts and reconciles. And in the end, Bartók makes the music as natural as possible: the work closes with a longing melody on the French horn. Which Brahms was particularly fond of, by the way.

Musik entstammt der Natur. Und sie ist wie Natur: Inspiration und Herausforderung, Trost und Täuschung, Schönheit und Magie. Für Wagners Siegfried stellen Wald und Vogelgesang die Weichen seines Weges. Brahms‘ Violinkonzert atmet die Alpenluft, in der es entstanden ist, so majestätisch wie zerbrechlich. Im Märchen vom holzgeschnitzten Prinzen wird der Wald zum Wandelwesen, das sein bizarres Spiel mit den Liebenden treibt: Es prüft und spottet, tröstet und versöhnt. Und am Ende macht Bartók die Musik so naturnah, wie es nur geht: Das Werk schließt mit einer sehnsüchtigen Melodie auf dem Waldhorn. Das Brahms übrigens besonders liebte.
