Brundibár (1942) è un'opera per bambini del compositore ceco ebreo Hans Krása su libretto di Adolf Hoffmeister, rappresentata prima a Praga e, in una versione modificata, dai bambini del Campo di concentramento di Terezin nella Cecoslovacchia occupata. Narra in forma di fiaba la vicenda dei piccoli Aninka e Pepicek, costretti a guadagnare qualche soldo per comprare il latte alla madre malata. Per questo cantano e ballano in piazza, ma il malvagio Brundibar, suonatore di organetto, li caccia via. Con l'aiuto di un gatto, un cane, un passerotto e i bambini del paese, i due coraggiosi ragazzi riusciranno a prendersi la rivincita sui grandi e portare alla mamma il latte necessario per curarsi. Contiene, soprattutto nella seconda versione, profondi significati di libertà e antinazisti.

Brundibár (1942) is a children's opera by the Czech Jewish composer Hans Krása to a libretto by Adolf Hoffmeister, performed first in Prague and, in a modified version, by the children of the Terezin Concentration Camp in occupied Czechoslovakia. It tells the story of the little Aninka and Pepicek in the form of a fairy tale, forced to earn some money to buy milk for their sick mother. For this they sing and dance in the square, but the wicked Brundibar, an accordion player, chases them away. With the help of a cat, a dog, a sparrow and the children of the village, the two brave boys will be able to take revenge on the grown-ups and bring their mother the necessary milk to heal themselves. It contains, especially in the second version, profound meanings of freedom and anti-Nazis.
