The Five  Songs  are one of the highlights of Benjamin Britten's work. Composed over a period of 25 years, all intended for his companion the tenor Peter Pears, they form an ensemble of overwhelming spirituality. Each one involves a different force, using the high counter, the baritone, the piano, the harp or the horn. Only common point, the tenor voice for which Britten will have written his most beautiful pages, from  Peter Grimes  to these sublime  Cantiques . Before performances of The  Rape of Lucretius, Cyrille Dubois, the most Brittenian of French tenors, takes up the challenge of this supernatural music, in the company of Anne Le Bozec or even Marc Mauillon, and in the intimate setting of the Auditorium Saint-Pierre-des-Cuisines.

Composés sur une période de 25 ans, tous destinés à son compagnon le ténor Peter Pears, les Cantiques forment un ensemble d’une spiritualité bouleversante. Chacun fait intervenir un effectif différent, faisant appel au haute-contre, au baryton, au piano, à la harpe ou au cor. Seul point commun, la voix de ténor pour laquelle Britten aura écrit ses plus belles pages, de Peter Grimes à ces sublimes Cantiques. Avant les représentations du Viol de Lucrèce, Cyrille Dubois, le plus brittenien des ténors français, relève le défi de cette musique surnaturelle, en compagnie d’Anne Le Bozec ou encore de Marc Mauillon, et dans l’écrin intimiste de l’Auditorium Saint-Pierre-des-Cuisines.
