It has been 26 years since the notes of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana resounded in a Sassari theater, then Verdi. They will return on 17 and 18 November, for the first time included in an opera season. The complex and fascinating "scenic cantata", composed by the German author in the 1930s and performed for the first time in 1937 at the Frankfurt Staatsoper, represents a cornerstone of modern choral music, written just eighty years ago but founded on the Codex buranus which dates back to the thirteenth century.

Sono passati 26 anni da quando le note dei Carmina Burana di Carl Orff sono risuonate in un teatro sassarese, allora il Verdi. Torneranno il 17 e 18 novembre, per la prima volta inserite in una Stagione lirica. La complessa e affascinante “cantata scenica”, composta dall’autore tedesco negli anni Trenta e rappresentata per la prima volta nel 1937 alla Staatsoper di Francoforte, rappresenta un caposaldo della musica corale moderna, scritta appena ottant’anni fa ma fondata sul Codex buranus che risale al tredicesimo secolo.
