Velkommen til utendørs sommeropera på Bergenhus Festning. Carmina Burana av Carl Orff fremføres i konsert før pause, og full scenisk oppsetning med Mascagnis Cavalleria Rusticana etter pause. Forestillingene spilles utendørs på Bergenhus festning (13., 15., 17. og 19. august) med internasjonale og nasjonale sanger, profesjonelt kor og orkester, Bergen Operakor og VNOs barnekor.

Carmina Burana av Carl Orff er et stort symfonisk verk for orkester, kor, barnekor og tre solister. Tekstene i verket er i hovedsak hentet fra ikke-liturgisk latinsk lyrikk, nedskrevet av munkene fra Benediktbeuern-klosteret i det 13. århundre. Samlingen inneholder moralsksatirisk diktning, kjærlighetsdiktning, drikkeviser og jule- og påskespill. Hovedinntrykket er livsbejaende. Carmina Burana skildrer i fargerik veksling årets tider og menneskets skjebne og er morsom, spennende og lett å lytte til. En av grunnene er at verket består av 25 individuelle og korte satser, som gir musikalsk variasjon og driv over det times lange verket. Konsertene vil bli lyssatt.

Cavalleria Rusticana av Pietro Mascagni og har en stor tilhengerskare blant operaelskere verden over. Det prisbelønte verket har en historie som utspilles med siciliansk temperament og dramatisk oppbygning, og dette gir musikken virkningsfulle korsatser, folkelig melodikk og gripende solopartier.  Det prisbelønte verket inneholder blant annet et storslagent instrumentalstykke; ”Intermezzo», som er verdt denne forestillingen alene. I tillegg: Det mektige påskekoret og et siciliansk drama med italiensk lidenskap og temperament. Produksjonen spilles i full scenisk oppsetning

Welcome to the outdoor summer opera at Bergenhus Fortress. Carmina Burana by Carl Orff is performed in concert before the break, and a full stage production with Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana after the break. The performances are played outdoors at Bergenhus fortress (13, 15, 17 and 19 August) with international and national songs, professional choir and orchestra, Bergen Opera Chorus and VNO's children's choir.

Carmina Burana by Carl Orff - is a large symphonic work for orchestra, choir, children's choir and three soloists. The texts in the work are mainly taken from non-liturgical Latin poetry, written down by the monks from the Benediktbeuern monastery in the 13th century. The collection contains morally satirical poetry, love poetry, drinking songs and Christmas and Easter plays. The main impression is life-affirming. Carmina Burana depicts in colorful alternation the times of the year and human destiny and is fun, exciting and easy to listen to. One of the reasons is that the work consists of 25 individual and short movements, which provide musical variety and drive over the hour-long work. The concerts will be illuminated.

Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni - has a large following among opera lovers worldwide. The award-winning work has a story that plays out with Sicilian temperament and dramatic structure, and this gives the music powerful choral movements, folk melodies and poignant solo parts. The award-winning work contains, among other things, a magnificent instrumental piece; "Intermezzo", which is worth this performance alone. Plus: The mighty Easter choir and a Sicilian drama with Italian passion and temperament. The production is played in full stage production
