Christian Thielemann’s programme is absolutely intoxicating: the Prelude and Good Friday Spell from Richard Wagner’s Parsifal and Richard Strauss’s Four Last Songs with Camilla Nylund. The orchestral preludes to Hans Pfitzner’s opera Palestrina are performed less often – a combination of nostalgic retrospection and visionary ideas. Arnold Schoenberg’s orchestration of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in E flat major will also be heard.
