Vor mehr als 400 Jahren komponierte Claudio Monteverdi in Mantua die „Marienvesper“, die einen bedeutenden Übergang in der Musikgeschichte markieren sollte und bis heute nicht an Faszination verloren hat. Besonders die stilistische Vielfalt des Werkes, in dem sich die Tradition der Gregorianik und des Kontrapunktes mit barocker Polyphonie und modernen Harmonien verbinden, gilt nach wie vor als wegweisend. Unter der Leitung des Alte Musik-Spezialisten Leonardo García Alarcón musiziert die Cappella Mediterranea gemeinsam mit dem Chœur de Chambre de Namur und ausgewählten Solist*innen nun dieses klangprächtige Meisterwerk.

More than 400 years ago, Claudio Monteverdi composed the "Marienvespers" in Mantua, which was to mark an important transition in the history of music and has not lost its fascination to this day. In particular, the stylistic diversity of the work, in which the tradition of Gregorian chant and counterpoint are combined with baroque polyphony and modern harmonies, is still considered groundbreaking. Under the direction of early music specialist Leonardo García Alarcón, the Cappella Mediterranea, together with the Chœur de Chambre de Namur and selected soloists, are now performing this magnificent masterpiece.
