After The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni, Daniel Benoin ends his Mozart triptych with the essential Così fan tutte. This last part will be transposed to our time, where the intricacies of love will be highlighted on the set of a television series.

Così fan tutte Mozart

The cynical Don Alfonso is keen to prove to his friends Ferrando and Guglielmo that women are inevitably unfaithful. For this he lays a trap for their fiancées sisters Dorabella and Fiordiligi: Ferrando and Guglielmo will believe that they are going to war but they will return close to their beauties in disguise. First rebuffed by the two women, these, little by little, give in to the advances mystifiers. Don Alfonso can then exult: they really all do like that… The two couples will reform despite having lost some illusions.

To finish the da Ponte trilogy and after having implemented throughout these years a consistency which makes it possible to link these three operas, after having made the choice to situate the first two at the time of their creation, that is to say a few short years before the French Revolution, I wanted to test a a kind of synthesis which makes it possible to link this period to our world today. To somehow seek bring this pre-revolutionary era into dialogue with the ours who, at times, take the path or at least the appearance. Daniel Benoin
