Dardanus, troisième des six tragédies écrites par Rameau, est sans doute l’œuvre où s’épanouit le plus pleinement l’ampleur du génie multiforme du compositeur.
Interprété en concert dans la version de 1744 dont les 3 derniers actes furent entièrement
remaniés par rapport à la version originale de 1739, Dardanus marque une étape importante dans l’évolution musicale de Rameau. L’importance dévolue à l’orchestre dans l’accompagnement du chant atteint ici une pleine maturité. Le livret présente tous les « thèmes » de l’opéra à la française : l’amour contrarié, la vaillance du héros secrètement aimé, le magicien visionnaire ou les esprits
infernaux. Cet opéra sera interprété par le Choeur et l’Orchestre Pygmalion dirigés par Raphaël Pichon.

Dardanus , third of the six tragedies written by Rameau, is without doubt the work in which the breadth of the multiform genius of the composer flourishes most fully.
Performed in concert in the 1744 version, the last 3 acts of which were completely
reworked from the original 1739 version, Dardanus marks an important stage in Rameau's musical development. The importance devolved to the orchestra in the accompaniment of the song here reaches full maturity. The libretto presents all the “themes” of French opera: thwarted love, the bravery of the secretly loved hero, the visionary magician or the
infernal spirits. This opera will be performed by the Pygmalion Choir and Orchestra conducted by Raphaël Pichon.
