The penultimate work by Mahler, Le Chant de la terre is a moving telluric experience. Deeply original, this score for a large ensemble performs the dazzling synthesis of seemingly irreconcilable genres: the Lieder and the orchestra. It condenses all Mahlerian genius, the sense of the tragic, the irony and the great philosophical detachment of a man struck by fate.
For his final concert at the head of the formation, Paul Daniel surrounds himself with a vocal set of choice with the contralto Marie-Nicole Lemieux with whom he recorded the Sea Picturesof Elgar and Issachah Savage amazing Sigmund in The Valkyrie in 2019.
