Reis met ons mee naar duizend en één werelden
We nemen u op 30 september en 1 oktober mee naar een plek waar duizenden werelden samenkomen.

Een bijzondere plek voor een muzikale avond: een monumentaal pakhuis op een verlaten industrieterrein, met miljoenen boeken uit de hele wereld.

We creëren tussen de stellingen en pallets een skyline aan boeken waar u onder andere de imponerende Uit de Nieuwe Wereld Symfonie gaat beleven. Een muzikale ontdekkingsreis waar we u graag voor uitnodigen!

De negende symfonie: uit de nieuwe wereld
Dvoraks Negende symfonie ‘Uit de Nieuwe Wereld’ is een onweerstaanbaar meesterwerk en een van de populairste werken überhaupt uit het complete romantische symfonische repertoire.

De symfonie ging in première op 16 december 1893 in de Carnegie Hall te New York. Ze werd bij die gelegenheid uitgevoerd door het New York Philharmonic. Waan u een pionier en waag de grote oversteek. In deze symfonie wordt het bruisende, opwindende en weidse Amerika bijna tastbaar gemaakt, met een groots thema dat vol optimisme, in grote sprongen en met een pittig ritme, voorwaarts springt: The American dream! U hoort de serene sfeer van Negro Spirituals en over de uitgestrekte steppe galopperende Indianen op paarden. Van stoere en ritmisch stampende thema’s tot landelijke pastorale melodieën en huppelende dansritmes.

Barbara Kozelj zingt Wagner en Mahler
De Sloveense mezzosopraan Barbara Kozelj heeft zich gevestigd als een charismatische en veelzijdige soliste en muzikante. Haar optredens hebben haar naar de toonaangevende internationale podia gebracht en blijven het publiek over de hele wereld boeien. Op het operapodium onderscheidde Barbara zich in hoofdrollen voor onder meer Leipzig, Essen, Bonn en Amsterdam.

Ze is een veelgevraagd concertsolist, haar veelzijdigheid heeft de aandacht getrokken van vele componisten en ze heeft een sterke affiniteit met Lieder, waarbij ze regelmatig recitals geeft met Julius Drake en Thomas Beijer. Haar stem is beschreven als 'diep en donker', 'betoverend', 'glanzend met fluweelachtig legato', 'een prachtig kalme houding gecombineerd met een diepe expressiviteit' en haar uitvoeringen als 'adembenemend' en 'piercingly beautiful'.

The Ninth Symphony: From the New World
Dvorak's Ninth Symphony 'From the New World' is an irresistible masterpiece and one of the most popular works in the entire romantic symphonic repertoire.

The symphony premiered on December 16, 1893 at Carnegie Hall in New York. She was performed by the New York Philharmonic on that occasion. Imagine yourself as a pioneer and dare the big crossing. In this symphony, the bustling, exciting and vast America is made almost tangible, with a grand theme that jumps forward full of optimism, in big leaps and with a spirited rhythm: The American dream! You will hear the serene atmosphere of Negro Spirituals and Indians galloping on horses across the vast steppe. From tough and rhythmically pounding themes to rural pastoral melodies and hopping dance rhythms.

Slovenian mezzo-soprano Barbara Kozelj has established herself as a charismatic and versatile soloist and musician. Her performances have taken her to the leading international stages and continue to captivate audiences around the world. On the opera stage, Barbara distinguished herself in leading roles for Leipzig, Essen, Bonn and Amsterdam, among others.

She is in demand as a concert soloist, her versatility has attracted the attention of many composers and she has a strong affinity for Lieder, regularly giving recitals with Julius Drake and Thomas Beijer. Her voice has been described as 'deep and dark', 'bewitching', 'glossy with velvety legato', 'a beautifully calm demeanor combined with a deep expressiveness' and her performances as 'breathtaking' and 'piercingly beautiful'.
