In the first of two joint concerts this festival year, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and its conductor Kent Nagano will interpret music from Austria, France and Italy, the main country of the festival. As one of the most important instrumental composers, Respighi pays tribute to one of the most important opera composers in Italy in his adaptation of a ballet by Rossini. Ravel's "Bolero" is a stroke of genius that lets the same melody ring out in all the tonal and instrumental colors of the orchestra. Pianist Rafał Blechacz, who takes on the solo part in Mozart's Piano Concerto in C minor, has proven that a world career can succeed even without an eccentric appearance but with the greatest musical integrity.

Im ersten von zwei gemeinsamen Konzerten in diesem Festival-Jahrgang interpretieren das Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin und sein Ehrendirigent Kent Nagano Musik aus Österreich, Frankreich und Italien, dem Schwerpunkt-Land des Festivals. Respighi erweist als einer der wichtigsten InstrumentalKomponisten in seiner Bearbeitung eines Balletts von Rossini einem der bedeutendsten Opernkomponisten Italiens die Ehre. Ravels »Bolero« ist ein Geniestreich, der dieselbe Melodie in allen Klang- und Instrumentalfarben des Orchesters erklingen lässt. Pianist Rafał Blechacz, der in Mozarts c-Moll-Klavierkonzert den Solo-Part übernimmt, hat bewiesen, dass auch ohne exzentrisches Auftreten, dafür aber größter musikalischer Integrität eine Weltkarriere gelingen kann.
