Olivier Messiaen’s »Visions de l’Amen« (1943) is a mesmerizing, deeply spiritual composition that explores different interpretations of the word “Amen”. Jean-Baptiste Fonlupt and Akane Sakai will perform this work for two pianos in the first half of the evening. The second half will feature Robert Schumann’s song cycle »Dichterliebe«, composed in 1840, the year of his marriage to Clara. Martha Argerich will bring her unique mastery to the work, and the texts by Heinrich Heine will be interpreted by internationally acclaimed baritone Stéphane Degout, who is at home on both opera and recital stages throughout the world.
