“Long live love!”, “Princess of Czardas”, “Queen of Csardas” - these are the variants of the names of Imre Kalman's most popular operetta “Silva”. The idea of ​​an operetta dedicated to the variety star Silva Varescu came to Kalman in early 1914. Captivated by the plot of the work, Kalman set to work with extraordinary enthusiasm. Despite the historical events, due to which there were interruptions in the writing of The Queen of Czardas, the operetta was completed.
The premiere of Silva (Queen of Czardas) took place on November 17, 1915 at the Johann Strauss Theatre. The stage fate of the operetta can be called brilliant without exaggeration. In Vienna, she withstood more than 2,000 performances, and in Berlin she went on daily for two years. 

Following Vienna and Berlin, Silva began a triumphal procession across the stages of the entire globe, which continues to this day. On Russian stages, the operetta about the romantic love story of the variety show actress Silva and Prince Edwin has been staged for more than a hundred years, still arousing the genuine interest of the audience.

«Да здравствует любовь!», «Княгиня чардаша», «Королева чардаша» — таковы варианты названий популярнейшей оперетты Имре Кальмана «Сильва». Замысел оперетты, посвященной звезде варьете Сильве Вареску, возник у Кальмана в начале 1914 года. Захваченный сюжетом произведения, Кальман с необычайным энтузиазмом принялся за работу. Несмотря на исторические события, из-за которых возникали перерывы в написании «Королевы чардаша», оперетта была закончена.
Премьера «Сильвы» («Королевы чардаша») состоялась 17 ноября 1915 года в театре Иоганна Штрауса. Сценическую судьбу оперетты можно без преувеличения назвать блестящей. В Вене она выдержала более 2000 спектаклей, а в Берлине шла ежедневно в течение двух лет. 

Вслед за Веной и Берлином «Сильва» начала триумфальное шествие по сценам всего земного шара, которое продолжается и по сей день. На российских сценах оперетта о романтической истории любви актрисы варьете Сильвы и князя Эдвина ставится уже больше ста лет, до сих пор вызывая неподдельный интерес зрительного зала.
