"Three Pintos" - sparkling comedy
"Three Pintos" is a unique opera that has no analogues in the world musical theater. Its originality lies primarily in its dual authorship: Gustav Mahler composed it from sketches by Carl Maria von Weber.

"Three Pintos" was supposed to be the only comic opera by K.M. von Weber, the creator and great master of the romantic operatic tradition. The composer borrowed the plot from the short story "The Battle for the Bride" by K. Seidel. Its action provides many opportunities for creating a sparkling comedy: funny lively dialogues, intrigues with disguises, exotic Spanish flavor! And most importantly - the bright characters of the characters: the stupid bumpkin Don Pinto, the trickster and inventor Don Gaston, the charming shy Donna Clarissa, Don Gomez, funny in his infinite nobility, and the caricature tyrant Don Pantaleone.

Weber worked intermittently on the opera for the rest of his life, but he never completed it. After his death, an almost detective story began on deciphering the manuscripts that the widow Carolina tried to transfer to one or another composer in the hope that her great husband’s opera would still be finished and see the light of the stage. But no one agreed. The maestro of the French opera Giacomo Meyerbeer tried to take on the Three Pintos, but twenty years later (!) he returned the untouched drafts to the Weber family,
never daring to complete the opera of his friend and colleague.

And only in 1886, when the centenary of Weber's birth was celebrated, did his grandson, Carl Weber Jr., succeed in persuading the young conductor of the Vienna Opera and composer Gustav Mahler to complete Three Pintos.

The premiere took place on 20 January 1888 at the New State Theater in Leipzig, conducted by Mahler himself. Few today remember that it was this event that brought Gustav his first international recognition as a composer and conductor. Mahler managed not only to complete the opera, but to capture and convey the style and spirit of Weber's music. As a result, a unique work was born, which owes its existence to two great German composers at once, separated in time by more than half a century. It is even more interesting that Three Pintos remained the only (and therefore especially valuable) experience of the great symphonist Mahler in the operatic genre.

The stage fate of the opera was not easy. After Mahler's death in 1911, it gradually disappeared from the European repertoire. The revival of interest in it began in the second half of the 20th century, and in the last fifteen years the opera has appeared quite often in the West in theater and festival posters.

The idea of ​​staging the opera "Three Pintos" in the Chamber Musical Theater. B.A. Pokrovsky belongs to his musical director, an outstanding conductor and musical figure, People's Artist of the USSR Gennady Rozhdestvensky. Gennady Nikolaevich Rozhdestvensky, a brilliant connoisseur of Russian and foreign music, is known as a specialist in little-known and forgotten masterpieces of the classical heritage. His great erudition and impeccable musical taste are a reliable guarantee that each composition he selects is of artistic value and of unconditional interest to all lovers and professionals of the musical theater.

The starting point for creating a visual and plastic image of the performance was the work of Marcel Marceau, the legendary French mime actor,
The 90th anniversary of whose birth in 2013 was celebrated by the whole world. Directed by director and choreographer Mikhail Kislyarov, this unpretentious comedy of characters and situations appeared in the form of a light, cheerful and witty performance.

«Три пинто» — искрометная комедия
«Три Пинто» — уникальная опера, не имеющая аналогов в мировом музыкальном театре. Ее оригинальность заключается, в первую очередь, в двойном авторстве: Густав Малер сочинил ее по эскизам Карла Марии фон Вебера.

«Три Пинто» должна была стать единственной комической оперой К.М. фон Вебера — создателя и великого мастера романтической оперной традиции. Сюжет композитор позаимствовал из новеллы «Битва за невесту» К. Зейделя. Ее действие дает множество возможностей для создания искрометной комедии: веселые бойкие диалоги, интриги с переодеваниями, экзотический испанский колорит! А главное — яркие характеры персонажей: глупый увалень дон Пинто, ловкач и выдумщик дон Гастон, очаровательная скромница донна Кларисса, забавный в своем бесконечном благородстве дон Гомес и карикатурный тиран дон Панталеоне.

Вебер с перерывами работал над оперой до конца жизни, но так и не завершил ее. После его смерти началась почти детективная история по расшифровке рукописей, которые вдова Каролина пыталась передать то одному, то другому композитору в надежде, что опера ее великого мужа все-таки будет закончена и увидит свет рампы. Но никто не соглашался. Мэтр французской оперы Джакомо Мейербер попытался взяться за «Три Пинто», но спустя двадцать лет (!) вернул нетронутые черновики семье Вебера,
так и не решившись дописать оперу своего друга и коллеги.

И только в 1886 году, когда праздновалось столетие со дня рождения Вебера, его внуку, Карлу Веберу-младшему, удалось уговорить молодого дирижера Венской оперы и композитора Густава Малера закончить «Три Пинто».

Премьера состоялась 20 января 1888 года в Новом Государственном театре в Лейпциге под управлением самого Малера. Немногие сегодня помнят, что именно это событие принесло Густаву первое международное признание как композитора и дирижера. Малеру удалось не просто завершить оперу, но уловить и передать стиль и дух музыки Вебера. В результате родилось уникальное произведение, обязанное своим существованием сразу двум великим немецким композиторам, разделенным во времени более чем полувековым интервалом. Еще интереснее, что «Три Пинто» осталась единственным (и потому особенно ценным) опытом великого симфониста Малера в оперном жанре.

Сценическая судьба оперы складывалась не просто. После смерти Малера в 1911 году она постепенно исчезла из европейского репертуара. Возрождение интереса к ней началось во второй половине XX века, и в последние пятнадцать лет опера довольно часто появляется на Западе в афишах театров и фестивалей.

Идея постановки оперы «Три Пинто» в Камерном музыкальном театре им. Б.А. Покровского принадлежит его музыкальному руководителю, выдающемуся дирижеру и музыкальному деятелю, народному артисту СССР Геннадию Рождественскому. Геннадий Николаевич Рождественский — блестящий знаток русской и зарубежной музыки, — известен как специалист по малоизвестным и забытым шедеврам классического наследия. Его огромная эрудиция и безупречный музыкальный вкус — надежный залог того, что каждое избранное им сочинение представляет собой художественную ценность и безусловный интерес для всех любителей и профессионалов музыкального театра.

Отправной точкой для создания визуального и пластического образа спектакля послужило творчество Марселя Марсо — легендарного французского актера-мима,
90-летие со дня рождения которого в 2013 году отмечал весь мир. В постановке режиссера и хореографа Михаила Кислярова эта незатейливая комедия характеров и положений предстала в виде легкого, веселого и остроумного спектакля.
