The story, which begins in a bourgeois house, passes through the ballroom to end ... in a prison, has entertained audiences around the world for almost a century and a half. Intrigue, disguises, fights, couplets - all this creates a unique atmosphere and allows you to experience a wonderful evening at the opera, filled with singing and laughter.

"If you look closely at these three acts, it is easy to see that they represent three separate worlds: act I is a French boulevard comedy, based on brilliant dialogue, witty, surprising situations and bold eroticism; act II is a typical operetta in a new - then new - style, full of disguises and the unbelievable qui pro quo caused by them, full of dance, champagne and crowned with a mighty finale in the style of a comic opera; act III is a Viennese slapstick in Nestroy's style. Strauss had the difficult task of binding these three worlds with uniform music, imposing stylistic uniformity ".
