In May 2017, the Circus Monti circus tent was set up in the Aeschimoos. The venue was program and formed the stage for the circus princess by Julius Brammer and Alfred Grünwald with music by Emmerich Kálmán.
Emmerich Kálmán grew up on Lake Balaton in Hungary and was
celebrated in the Budapest newspaper in 1897 as a musical prodigy. Due to a nerve disease in his right hand, he had to give up his planned career as a pianist. He studied law, composition and music theory. In addition to his work as a music critic, he initially composed songs, piano pieces and symphonies. After his first operetta Tatarjaras (1908) he moved to Vienna. He soon enjoyed great success with his works, of which the Csardasfürstin (1915), Countess Mariza (1924) and The Circus Princess (1926) deserve special mention.
Kálmán's composition of the circus princess has an extraordinary musical richness. In it he created music numbers that resemble a circus program. Each piece takes us into a new world full of magic and emotions. The arc is stretched from colorful dazzling circus music to the Viennese waltz, the csárdás to the modern foxtrot.
