DOLCEAMARO – THE TRIUMPH OF THE SENSES
The 2023 edition of DolceAmaro is on stage, the usual semi-staged symphonic lyric appointment dedicated to the students of the masterclass for opera singers of the Teatro Comunale at the end of a course led by world-renowned teachers, such as Leone Magiera, Mariella Devia, Barbara Frittoli, Ernesto Palacio and Michele Pertusi. The show combines the skills of two advanced training courses held by the Teatro Comunale of Modena with the support of the European Social Fund and the Emilia-Romagna Region. In fact, the performance will also be seen in live streaming on the Teatro Comunale YouTube channel in a broadcast created, as a final experience, by the students of the video communication course born from the collaboration with Edunova/University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

 

An opera singer, when he takes the stage, must know how to listen to what the opera demands, put himself in a dialectical relationship with his own body and voice, and offer the audience the answers that musical theater is able to give to the questions of the contemporary world.
This so revealing stage action can only take place if the performer frees the body from the frills and, with profound self-awareness, dialogues with the musical dramaturgy: the voice then merges with the action and the physical language becomes an astonishing metaphor of musical language.
This year's work of the DolceAmaro project has been directed in this direction: a journey into human relationships, an investigation of the senses, an encounter/clash between male and female in the eternal struggle between reason and feeling. A varied itinerary that unfolds along the great operatic repertoire, from the lightness (which is not superficiality) of the comic opera, up to the great twentieth-century lyricism in search of a renewed humanity.
The human being is therefore the focus of each of the works represented here, outlined in its most intimate folds, from the all-female ability to love and hate at the same time, to transcendence towards the ideal, from magical mysticism rooted in the most ancient traditions, to plots of deception, disguises and subterfuges typical of the funniest characters.
If the work remains current and contemporary, it means that it is capable of outlining the events of the human being with lucidity and transversality: then it is worth trying to tell it without frills and superstructures, trying to mirror oneself in it without fear, without horror vacui , assisting to the miracle of relationship, elaboration and artistic creation, starting from an analytical and poetic work on musical dramaturgy and having the body as its sole object.
Touch, whisper, smell, listen, taste.
The body of the performers as a metaphor for life, relationships and the soul, exalted "squared" by virtual scenographies created, following the fil rougedramaturgical exploration of the five senses, by the participants in the video communication course, in a synergistic and passionate joint work session, which was the result of a long reflection on the contemporary staging of opera between directors and performers.

DOLCEAMARO – IL TRIONFO DEI SENSI
Va in scena l’edizione 2023 di DolceAmaro, consueto appuntamento lirico sinfonico in forma semiscenica dedicato agli allievi del corso di perfezionamento per cantanti lirici del Teatro Comunale al termine di un percorso guidato da docenti di fama mondiale, quali Leone Magiera, Mariella Devia, Barbara Frittoli, Ernesto Palacio e Michele Pertusi. Lo spettacolo unisce le competenze di due corsi di alta formazione tenuti dal Teatro Comunale di Modena con il sostegno del Fondo Sociale Europeo e della Regione Emilia-Romagna. La rappresentazione si vedrà infatti anche in diretta streaming sul canale YouTube del Teatro Comunale in una trasmissione realizzata, quale esperienza conclusiva, dagli allievi del corso di comunicazione in video nato dalla collaborazione con Edunova/Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia.

 

Un cantante lirico, quando sale sul palcoscenico, deve saper ascoltare quello che l’opera domanda, mettersi in una relazione dialettica con il proprio corpo e la propria voce, e offrire al pubblico le risposte che il teatro musicale è in grado di dare alle domande del mondo contemporaneo.
Quest’azione scenica così rivelatrice, può avvenire solo se l’interprete libera il corpo dagli orpelli e, con profonda consapevolezza di sé, dialoga con la drammaturgia musicale: la voce allora si fonde con l’azione e il linguaggio fisico diviene metafora stupefacente del linguaggio musicale.
In questa direzione è stato rivolto il lavoro di quest’anno del progetto DolceAmaro: un viaggio nelle relazioni umane, un’indagine dei sensi, un incontro/scontro tra maschile e femminile nell’eterna lotta tra ragione e sentimento. Un itinerario variegato che si dipana lungo il grande repertorio operistico, dalla leggerezza (che non è superficialità) dell’opera buffa, fino al grande lirismo novecentesco alla ricerca di un’umanità rinnovata.
L’essere umano dunque, è il focus di ognuna delle opere qui rappresentate, tratteggiato nelle sue più intime pieghe, dalla capacità tutta femminile di amare e odiare contemporaneamente, alla trascendenza verso l’ideale, dal misticismo magico radicato nelle tradizioni più antiche, alle trame di inganni, travestimenti e sotterfugi tipici dei personaggi più buffi.
Se l’opera resta attuale e contemporanea significa che è capace di delineare le vicende dell’essere umano con lucidità e trasversalità: vale allora la pena provare a raccontarla senza orpelli e sovrastrutture, provare a specchiarsi in essa senza paura, senza horror vacui, assistere al miracolo della relazione, dell’elaborazione e della creazione artistica, partendo da un lavoro analitico e poetico sulla drammaturgia musicale e avendo per solo oggetto il corpo.
Toccarsi, sussurrare, annusare, ascoltare, assaporare.
Il corpo degli interpreti come metafora della vita, delle relazioni e dell’anima, esaltato “al quadrato” da scenografie virtuali realizzate, seguendo il fil rouge drammaturgico dell’esplorazione dei cinque sensi, dai partecipanti al corso di comunicazione video, in una sinergica e appassionata sessione di lavoro congiunto, che è stata il risultato di una lunga riflessione sulla messinscena contemporanea dell’opera lirica tra registi ed interpreti.
