"I smell a woman's breath!" Exclaimed Don Juan, who was waiting for a new victim. Such a statement did not surprise his faithful servant Leporelo: waiting patiently for a lady who loves him is a daily occurrence. Only women who desire Don Juan do not usually make as much noise as this time… And the intrigue has already begun. Viewers hear what Don Juan is so insistent on: "fullness in winter, youth in spring", but most of all, "sweetness of life and even a little mustard." And, of course, he can't resist "eye-catching lilies." In a hurry to make as many ladies as possible happy, everyone agrees not to waste time: "I will become my wife for this moment." Hearing such promises, the woman abandons strength and there is never a shortage of people who want to "experience happiness in love"…



Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera Don Juan was performed in Klaipeda by a team of famous creators: conductor from Austria Josef Wallnig, director Jonas Vaitkus, set designer Gintaras Makarevičius and costume designer Sandra Straukaitė. Medieval-style costumes and dresses created by the latter have been moderately "modernized" in such a way that today's adorners would not give them up either. The audience admires the huge ornate wigs and intriguing corsets that are not only worn by women on stage… And Don Juan is perfectly matched by a cocktail-like tailcoat, ironically emphasizing the character’s ambitions and the comic nature of his position. The production does not lack the features of J. Vaitkus' directorial hand. For example, the circle of the characters in the opera is supplemented by strange screaming creatures who try to adapt, participate in the action, or even direct the fate of the characters. This provocative mission on the stage was entrusted to the dancers of the Klaipėda State Musical Theater troupe led by Aurelijus Lišauskas and even to the choreographer himself. It is not easy to build and sing "Don Juan": you will inevitably be compared to the world's most famous productions and legendary singers. However, it is an honor for every musical theater to have this opera in its repertoire.
