Stathis Karapanos is not only a technically brilliant flutist, but also has the gift of intuitively sensing music and conveying it to the audience with an impressive charisma and high emotionality," said the artistic director of the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, Christian Kuhnt, on the occasion of the announcement of the awarding of this year's Leonard Bernstein Prize to the young flutist. Stathis Karapanos was born in Greece in 1996. Among other things, Karapanos studied at the Athens Conservatory, later he studied at the National School of Music in Sofia and from 2012 to 2018 at the Karlsruhe University of Music. Karapanos is currently studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris. Karapanos has performed with the Greek National Youth Orchestra and the Athens State Symphony Orchestra, among others. He also appears as a chamber musician with Christoph Eschenbach.
