Performed for the first time on May 7, 1860 in Paris at the Opéra-Comique.
New production on December 4, 2010 in Fontainebleau with a second part (Pepito, la Danza, Bataclan, Fille du Régiment…), then on tour in the south of Seine et Marne.
Resumed in October 2011 in Paris aboard the barge Opéra with a second part
of a creation by Vincent Bouchot , isn't life beautiful? (command of the barge Opéra)

Added to Rita's entertainment is Vincent Bouchot 's "half-opera" directed by Alain Patiès Isn't life beautiful? Using texts from Nouvelles Brèves de Comptoir by Jean-Marie Gourio, snapshots heard on the fly and noted over the bars and counters, this singular and unique piece paints our daily life with this fierce humor that only a touch of melancholy can bring out.
