Puna prekrasnih narodnih napjeva i iskričave satire, ova je opera jedno od najboljih djela slavenske operne literature u kojoj svoj svježi scenski život žive ljudi s istinskim vrlinama i manama. Podvig preodijevanja bogatog seljaka Miće koji tobože dolazi s onoga svijeta u namjeri da ispita ćud i odanost djevojke koju voli, razvija se u bogatom nizu komičnih situacija i zapleta. Jedna je to od rijetkih hrvatskih opera izvođenih na stranim pozornicama, ponajviše u Njemačkoj.

Full of beautiful folk songs and sparkling satire, this opera is one of the best works of Slavic opera literature in which people with true virtues and flaws live their fresh stage life. The feat of dressing up the rich peasant Mica, who ostensibly comes from the other world in order to test the temper and loyalty of the girl he loves, develops in a rich series of comic situations and plots. It is one of the few Croatian operas performed on foreign stages, mostly in Germany.
