Masaaki Suzuki –music director of the Bach Collegium in Japan– is the guest conductor of the Bachcelona Festival, where he will offer a concert featuring, among others, soloists from the Salvat Beca Bach. Johann Sebastian Bach’s two cantatas BWV 71 and BWV 119 will be performed, both composed as part of religious celebrations to mark civic and political events: Gott ist mein König was written in 1708 to celebrate the inauguration of Mühlhausen Municipal Council and Preise, Jerusalem, den Herrn, which includes fragments of the Te Deum with texts by Martin Luther, was composed to mark the inauguration of Leipzig City Council in 1723. The concert will also feature the Cor Bachcelona Akademie and Bachcelona Consort, with Daniel Tarrida as organist.

Director del Bach Collegium del Japó, Masaaki Suzuki és el director convidat pel Festival Bachcelona per abordar una vetllada que acollirà, entre d’altres, els solistes de la Salvat Beca Bach. Les dues cantates BWV 71 i BWV 119 de Johann Sebastian Bach s’emmarquen en celebracions religioses incloses en actes de caire civicopolític: Gott ist mein König és una pàgina escrita el 1708 en el context de la inauguració del Consell Municipal de Mühlhausen. Per la seva banda, Preise Jerusalem, den Herrn inclou fragments del Te Deum amb textos de Martí Luter, i va ser gestada en ocasió de la inauguració de l’Ajuntament de Leipzig el 1723. El Cor Bachcelona Akademie i el Bachcelona Consort, amb la participació de Daniel Tarrida com a organista, complementen els ingredients interpretatius d’aquest concert.
