The US American David Robertson is a versatile conductor who is celebrated for his innovative programs at the rostrum of the Dresden Festival Orchestra. Exciting impulses can be expected from this artistic encounter, especially since two groundbreaking compositions by Beethoven are on the program. The choral fantasy op. 80 was written for one of Beethoven's great academies, with the piano part being performed by the composer himself, improvising freely. In the concert, Martin Helmchen, one of the top pianists of the younger generation, will take over this on a historical grand piano. The legendary Ninth, presented on original instruments, brings this festival year to a close in jubilant tones with the Ode »To Joy«, performed by a first-class ensemble of singers.
