The International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera Pietro Antonio Cesti was founded in 2010 by Alessandro De Marchi. Named after the Italian composer Pietro Antonio Cesti, who made Innsbruck a centre of Italian opera north of the Alps in the mid-17th century, the competition is aimed at young singers from all over the world with a special talent and training for the extremely diverse baroque opera genre. In the meantime, the Cesti Competition has become one of the most important singing competitions in this field.

The prizes include engagements at renowned opera houses as well as cash prizes chosen by the jury and the audience.

Cesti Competition 2022 - Laurence Kilsby (Siegerarie)

The "Singing Competition for Baroque Opera Pietro Antonio Cesti" initiated by Alessandro De Marchi has established itself as one of the most important in its field. Young singers from all over the world come together from August 23rd to 28th to take part and present their skills in front of an international and top-class jury. The talents sing for the honored main prize, participation in the Baroque Opera: Young in the following year, as well as engagements in high-ranking singing houses in Germany and abroad.

The big final concert of what is now the 14th competition is preceded by several preliminary rounds. These can be visited free of charge from August 23rd to 25th by all interested parties. At the eventful and exciting final concert on Sunday evening, the highly endowed prizes will be awarded to the finalists in several categories. Of course there is also an audience award. You can be part of the jury and vote for a young talent.

Der von Alessandro De Marchi ins Leben gerufene «Gesangswettbewerb für Barockoper Pietro Antonio Cesti» hat sich zu einem der bedeutendsten auf seinem Gebiet etabliert. Junge Sänger*innen aus aller Welt kommen vom 23. bis zum 28. August zusammen, um daran teilzunehmen und ihr Können vor einer international und hochkarätig besetzten Jury zu präsentieren. Die Talente singen um den honorierten Hauptpreis, der Teilnahme an der Barockoper:Jung im Folgejahr, sowie Engagements an hochrangigen Gesangshäusern im In- und Ausland.

Dem großen Finalkonzert des mittlerweile 14. Wettbewerbs gehen mehrere Vorrunden voraus. Diese können vom 23. bis 25. August kostenfrei von allen Interessierten besucht werden. Beim ereignisreichen und spannenden Finalkonzert am Sonntagabend werden dann in mehreren Kategorien die hochdotierten Preise an die Finalist*innen vergeben. Natürlich gibt es auch einen Publikumspreis. Sie können Teil der Jury sein und Ihre Stimme einem jungen Talent geben.
