Thirsty for action, Siegfried sets off into the civilized world. This is where the curse of the ring hits him. Manipulated by a magic potion, he leads his own bride Brünnhilde to King Gunther. Eventually he falls victim to an assassination plot. But when the sinister scion of the Nibelung, Hagen, grabs the ring, Brünnhilde sets the world on fire. Men and gods perish: the ring is cleansed of the curse.
