USA, Ende der 60er Jahre: In Vietnam herrscht Krieg, wehrpflichtige Amerikaner werden eingezogen, junge Menschen (heute nennen wir sie Hippies) protestieren und suchen abseits etablierter Bürgerlichkeit und in Opposition zum Staatsapparat nach einem anderen, friedvolleren Leben ohne Krieg, Gewalt und Rassismus. Vor diesem Hintergrund entsteht das Musical „Hair“ und wird zum Kult: der Traum von einem neuen Zeitalter. Hier und heute herrscht eine große Sehnsucht nach Menschlichkeit und Natur, nach Besinnung auf Werte und menschliche Normalität, nach einer besseren Welt. Rassismus, Sexismus, Klimakrise, Krieg und der Umgang mit Minderheiten in unserer Gesellschaft sind aktuelle Themen wie eh – und zusätzlich haben wir mit einer Pandemie zu kämpfen. Was macht das mit den Beziehungen der Menschen untereinander? Wie gehen wir mit den Konsequenzen unserer Entscheidungen um?

Vor allem aber ist „Hair“ damals wie heute ein Happening voller Lebensbejahung, Aufbruchsstimmung und Musik! Sehnsucht und Rebellion, freie Liebe, Flower-Power und Auflehnung gegen jede Form von Krieg, das ist „Hair“.

USA, late 1960s: War is raging in Vietnam, conscript Americans are being drafted, young people (today we call them hippies) are protesting and looking for a different, more peaceful life away from established bourgeoisie and in opposition to the state apparatus, without war, violence and racism. Against this background, the musical "Hair" was created and became a cult: the dream of a new age. Here and now there is a great longing for humanity and nature, for reflection on values ​​and human normality, for a better world. Racism, sexism, the climate crisis, war and dealing with minorities in our society are current issues as they always were - and we are also struggling with a pandemic. What does that do to the relationships between people? How do we deal with the consequences of our decisions?

Above all, however, "Hair" is then as now a happening full of life affirmation, a spirit of optimism and music! Longing and rebellion, free love, flower power and rebellion against any form of war, that is "Hair".
