The English conductor Jonathan Cohen founded the Ensemble Arcangelo in 2010, with which he has enjoyed great international success, for example at the BBC Proms, the Salzburg Festival and in the Berlin Philharmonic. In the 2022/23 season he will not only conduct Handel's opera Alcina with the Canadian ensemble Les Violons du Roy and Handel's oratorio Theodora with the Ensemble Arcangelo, but also a Handel concert evening with the Orchestra La Scintilla at the Zurich Opera House. In addition to the famous Water Music , which was first heard in 1717 as part of a royal pleasure trip on the then probably still idyllic Thames in London, two concerti grossi are also on the program.

Der englische Dirigent Jonathan Cohen hat 2010 das Ensemble Arcangelo gegründet, mit dem er international grosse Erfolge feiert, etwa bei den BBC Proms, den Salzburger Festspielen oder in der Berliner Philharmonie. In der Spielzeit 2022/23 dirigiert er nicht nur Händels Oper Alcina mit dem kanadischen Ensemble Les Violons du Roy und Händels Oratorium Theodora mit dem Ensemble Arcangelo, sondern auch einen Händel-Konzertabend mit dem Orchestra La Scintilla am Opernhaus Zürich. Neben der berühmten Wassermusik, die 1717 erstmals im Rahmen einer königlichen Lustfahrt auf der damals wohl noch idyllischen Themse in London erklang, stehen auch zwei Concerti grossi auf dem Programm.
