One of the world's best children's operas is now at the Novaya Opera!

The opera "Hansel and Gretel" by Engelbert Humperdinck
(1854-1921)  premiered in 1893 at the Weimar Court Theater under the direction of Richard Strauss himself, and less than a year later in Hamburg it was conducted by Gustav Mahler. The libretto based on the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm was composed by the composer's sister Adelheid Wette. In Moscow, this amazing fairy-tale opera was named "The Gingerbread House, or Hansel and Gretel".

Director Yekaterina Odegova calls her work a family show . Not limited to the framework of the children's theater, the production team endowed the performance with bright costumes, decorations, interactive and funny stage situations (for children), as well as additional meanings and cultural allusions (for their parents).

A fascinating fairy tale, wonderful music, magical sweets and a real holiday await you at the Novaya Opera Theater.
