What Béla Bartók is to us is George Enescu to the Romanian people. They were born in the same year, they both considered reforming national music to be their life's goal, both drew a lot from folk music, both died in emigration, yet their music is quite different. But they are also similar in that their music and personality are a bridge between their own nation and universal music. Moreover, Bartók did a lot to find and nurture Romanian folk music, so he represents a bridge between Hungarian and Romanian culture. There are few Hungarians whom Romanians would mention with such respect and love as Bartók. The piano concerto of the Romanian Radu Paladi, born in 1989, a year that was a turning point in both Hungarian and Romanian history, will be played between the works of the two of them.

Aki nekünk Bartók Béla, az a román népnek George Enescu. Ugyanabban az évben születtek, ugyanúgy a nemzeti zene megreformálását tartották életcéljuknak, mindketten sokat merítettek a népzenéből, mindketten emigrációban haltak meg, zenéjük mégis egészen más. De hasonlítanak abban is, hogy zenéjük és személyük híd saját nemzetük és az egyetemes zene között. Sőt, Bartók sokat tett a román népzene felkutatásáért és ápolásáért is, így hidat jelent a magyar és a román kultúra között is. Kevés magyar van, akit a románok olyan tisztelettel és szeretettel említenének, mint Bartókot. Kettejük egy-egy műve között a román Radu Paladi zongoraversenye hangzik el, mely 1989-ben született, abban az évben, mely sorsfordító volt a magyar és a román történelemben is.
