It was for the creation of this musical piece at the Berlin Opera that two internationally renowned ensembles joined forces in 2019: the Musicbanda Franui, an Austrian instrumental group from East Tyrol, and the Familie Flöz, a Berlin collective. which animates a magic theatre, without words, and brings to life all sorts of emotions and feelings in masked faces, therefore frozen.
For their first collaboration, Franui & Flöz have created an opera based on works by the greatest classical composers, where we dream of love, nostalgia and hope. They undertook an exploration of the German Romantic world of the early 19th century, humorously evoking the images of that era that fit with the musical repertoire and still charm us today. On the inimitable funeral marches of the Musicbanda Franui, the virtuoso masquerades of the Familie Flöz stage contemporary characters who identify with the dreams of the romantics.
Breaking down the better to recompose, the Musicbanda Franui liberates the lied, restores its original nature as a song, without losing the quality of the melodies, always refined, often sublime. For its part, the Flöz family, without saying a word, seizes on the little dramas of everyday life where all the great questions of existence nest. Because, in the end, what is it? To find our place between heaven and earth, birth and death, love and loneliness.

C’est pour la création de cette pièce musicale à l’Opéra de Berlin que s’associèrent en 2019 ces deux ensembles de renommée internationale : la Musicbanda Franui, un groupe instrumental autrichien originaire du Tyrol oriental, et la Familie Flöz, un collectif berlinois qui anime un théâtre magique, sans paroles, et fait vivre à des visages masqués, donc figés, toutes sortes d’émotions et de sentiments.
Pour leur première collaboration, Franui & Flöz ont créé un opéra sur des œuvres des plus grands compositeurs classiques, où l’on rêve d’amour, de nostalgie et d’espoir. Ils ont entrepris une exploration du monde romantique allemand du début du XIXe siècle, évoquant avec humour les images de cette époque qui s’accordent avec le répertoire musical et nous charment encore aujourd’hui. Sur les inimitables marches funèbres de la Musicbanda Franui, les mascarades virtuoses de la Familie Flöz mettent en scène des personnages contemporains qui s’identifient aux rêves des romantiques.
Décomposant pour mieux recomposer, la Musicbanda Franui libère le lied, lui rend sa nature originelle de chanson, sans pour autant perdre la qualité des mélodies, toujours raffi nées, souvent sublimes. Pour sa part, la Familie Flöz, sans mot dire, s’empare des petits drames du quotidien où nichent toutes les grandes questions de l’existence. Car, en fin de compte, de quoi s’agit-il ? De trouver notre place entre le ciel et la terre, la naissance et la mort, l’amour et la solitude.
