Mozart's "Munich" opera is finally back at the place where it was first performed in 1781! For the reopening of Munich's Cuvilliés-Theater, there is no better present for this unique rococo jewel of theater and its audience. Idomeneo, a work that has an almost horrible conflict as its content: In the event of his being rescued from distress at sea, Idomeneo promises to sacrifice the first person he meets on the beach to the god Poseidon. But the person Idomeneo sees first after being rescued is, of all people, Idamante: his son. Will the father actually kill his son for Poseidon? Is there a way out of this conflict? Dieter Dorn, who shaped the Mozart repertoire of the Bavarian State Opera with his productions of Figaro and Così, stages Mozart's early, musically pioneering opera. At the desk:
