Outstanding virtuoso with an inimitable style, Ennio Morricone is an artist as inventive as he is productive. The Italian maestro will remain, along with Nino Rota , one of the greatest composers for cinema. During the 1971 Cannes Film Festival, Morricone said that Sergio Leone was "perhaps the only director allowing the composer to express himself completely". His collaboration with the Italian director for Once Upon a Time in the West (whose harmonica marked the history of cinema) gave birth to some of his most fascinating music. Morricone's compositions generate suspense, sublimate emotion and largely contribute to the recognition of cinematographic masterpieces.

The name of Nino Rota is inseparable from that of Fellini. The La Strada ballet was commissioned by La Scala in Milan. This immortal score alone sums up the genius of Rota. As for the score of The Godfather , it remains in all ears, profane or professional...

Virtuose hors normes au style inimitable, Ennio Morricone est un artiste aussi inventif que productif. Le maestro italien restera, avec Nino Rota, l’un des plus grands compositeurs pour le cinéma. Lors du Festival de Cannes de 1971, Morricone raconta que Sergio Leone était « peut-être le seul metteur en scène permettant au compositeur de s’exprimer totalement ». Sa collaboration avec le réalisateur italien pour Il était une fois dans l’Ouest ( dont l’harmonica a marqué l’histoire du cinéma ) a donné naissance à certaines de ses musiques les plus fascinantes. Les compositions de Morricone génèrent le suspense, subliment l’émotion et contribuent largement à la reconnaissance de chefs-d’oeuvre cinématographiques.

Le nom de Nino Rota est indissociable de celui de Fellini. Le ballet La Strada est une commande de la Scala de Milan. Cette partition immortelle résume à elle seule le génie de Rota. Quant à la partition du Parrain, elle reste dans toutes les oreilles, profanes ou professionnelles…
