Probabilmente uno dei brani più conosciuti al mondo: è la marcia nuziale dal Sogno di una notte di mezza estate di Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, composta nel 1842 come musica di scena e diventata di moda pochi anni dopo quando fu eseguita al matrimonio della principessa Vittoria con il principe Federico Guglielmo di Prussia. Alla solennità della marcia nuziale ben si accosta la sinfonia Renana, forse la più amata delle quattro di Robert Schumann, che recava proprio all'inizio del quarto movimento la didascalia «di accompagnamento a una cerimonia solenne».

Probably one of the best known pieces in the world: it is the wedding march from A Midsummer Night's Dream by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, composed in 1842 as incidental music and became fashionable a few years later when it was performed at the wedding of Princess Victoria with Prince Frederick William of Prussia. The Rhenish symphony , perhaps the most beloved of Robert Schumann's four, is well suited to the solemnity of the wedding march, bearing the caption " accompanying a solemn ceremony " at the very beginning of the fourth movement.
